How to Tell It's Almost Spring...

First the snow starts to melt,... circles open up around the base of the trees...

"Middy" begins to enjoy sitting out on the deck in the sunshine...

The birds start singing their springtime season songs,...

The sun is now going down a lot farther to the right of the mountain. In December it goes down on the left shoulder of the mountain in the foreground!

And my family gathers around to help blow out my one candle on the chocolate cake with maple sugar frosting!
After my birthday I know that spring is right around the corner!

Ooo, that frosting looks good; I don't think I've ever had maple sugar frosting.

I hope you have a wonderful Birthday! Never heard of Maple Syrup frosting before but it sound yummy : )

I sure hope you're right and that Spring is just around the corner. We had some bare ground around her finally and then this latest storm barrels through leaving us with almost a foot of snow. I just want it to stop.

Hope your birthday was glorious! The weather over our side was pretty darn good - even got into the cabin and turned the heater on. Nice and cozy! I was noticing the North Country tree circles too!

Cedar, Is it your birthday?? I assume that you have a little longer to wait--since spring is still a little while away... But--I love your thoughts on how to tell...

NOW--I have a question.. Did you get all of that snow last night and today??? IF that is true, I'm sure that you think Spring is a lONG way away!!! ha

Hope you had a good day. And whenever your birthday is, Happy Birthday!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Thank you all for the nice birthday wishes. Yes it was on Saturday, the 28th of February. No, we did not get that big storm, it slid east of us really hammering the coast, especially Maine.

p.s....For those that have not heard of maple sugar frosting,...it's real maple syrup simmered down to a soft fudge state. The trick is getting it to the right consistency. I haven't done it in years, but my daughter and granddaughter do it perfectly. To a maple lover it is a real treat!

Did you say something about Spring?

I'm still cold from yesterday!

Well Happy, Happy Birthday! And whoa - excellent choice of birthday cake and frosting - that sounds AMAZING? Care to share the recipe?

And thanks for the encouragement that spring really is coming - we got like 8 inches of snow down here yesterday. No signs of spring here today! :-(

Oh the photos are so beautiful and I am so so so so sorry I missed your birthday.
I am giving you the biggest hugs I can put out to you that I can. Can you feel it? Believe me, I put one out there for you!!♥
I think about you all the time!
I wish as well you were closer so we could sit and chat, it would be fun...
I hope Spring continues to pour over your area... we are having extremely cold cold temps and miserable blizzard white out conditions... winter is kicking us once more... *sigh*
Hugs to you♥
