Every day I drive over this railroad crossing to and from work. Looking south it disappears around a curve, but to the north it stretches in what seems like endless tracks to,... wherever! I wonder how many hobos in years past have been lured to hop a freight car out of wanderlust, not just desire to find work in another town during hard times?

Interesting! Train tracks and old train beds fascinate me. We have the old NY Central tracks just down from our place over the mountain. I guess yours must go up to the Burgh? Or went there?
Yes, CM that's where those tracks lead, eventually. I don't know why, but my gaze is always drawn down that stretch as I go over that crossing.
I love trains tracks and trains in general. I have done what "hobos" have done. I needed to when I was younger... it's scary. Nowadays, it's a little harder to do, at least in my neck of the woods, they keep the cars pretty locked up and secured.
A very pretty photograph!!!
I'm sure many hobos rode those rails to "go where the wild goose goes". For quite a spell it was quite a romantic way to live for someone not tied down or maybe running from something. The rails seemingly had no end, the trains kept running, the trips were free, there were "friendly" places to be found in their lore good for hand-outs...
Now you've got me thinking...
