Starflowers...

While walking in the wooded area on the hill below my front deck I showed you the ground covered with Gaywings. Sprinkled among the Gaywings were many Starflowers. The Starflowers are the same size as the Gaywings, very small and low to the ground.

Here there are two blooming, and one bud not yet opened which is nearly invisible against the leaf in the upper left of this photo.

I couldn't decide which shot I like the best, the first one or this one so I've posted both!

When I get home from work this afternoon I will be leaving to go camping for the weekend,... see you all when I get back.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, but don't forget why we have this holiday,... our dedicated servicemen and women. A tip of the camera lens to you all, -- without you we wouldn't have the freedoms we have today. Thank you!

I love seeing these tiny wild flowers. I've spent my whole life in the woods and never have seen these or I was never looking hard enough! Thank you for posting them. Have a great weekend. Jean

How very beautiful! I have seen these flowers in the mountains, and in the woods of my childhood. we also had another type of star flower. The stem would hold several starflowers--they were shaped like shooting stars. The leaves were soft and rather triangular--but masses of them, with the stems rising from their midst.

I love your photography! Thank you for sharing these beautiful flowers--I haven't seen them for years! Brought back so many memories.

Beautiful flowers nicely captured. I hate to say it Cedar but you have to get down on the ground and get up close and personal with those babies!

Hope all is well with you. I am trying to piece things back together. Hopefully this weekend can be a catalyst!

Hi Cedar

Thanks for dropping over to my blog. When I came here, I was captured by your banner - how beautiful and serene. It reminds me of Milford House in Nova Scotia - a lodge and cabins that my family used to visit. Each cabin had a little dock on the lake. So beautiful!

Our starflowers are blooming now too and also the trilliums. We're just waiting for our lily of the valley and Lady's Slipper.

Thanks again for coming by!
