Looking Ahead....

As we sit here looking out at snow covered back yards and snow covered mountains my thoughts go to spring. Spring,... out in the woods the trillium will be blooming again! I am thinking about my 40' long flower box along the side of my house and the hardy flowers that grow there year after year. I think of what choices I will make for annuals to add bright spots of color. I think of the smell of the soil, the breeze in the pine trees and I can almost hear the birds singing!

What prompted me to think about spring? Jenny Matlock! Jenny's blog post today is about gardening and where she purchases much of her seeds and gardening supplies. To get us all in the mood she's hosting a "give-away"... the prize is a $50 gift certificate to The Tasteful Garden.

So visit both The Tasteful Garden and Jenny Matlock. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Jenny for visiting my blog. I followed the trail back to your blog and am now a follower, -- Just in time to join you as we both look ahead to spring!

Just a few more months of winter weather, right? This photo definitely makes me long for green grass and blooming flowers! Did you get outdoors on your snowshoes this weekend? It was chilly, but the sun was out, which was a huge plus. Take care.

Ceder, Thanks for sharing I am off to check out Jenny's blog. Keep this quote handy, "God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December" JM Barrie.

Your trilliums got to me and I had to look back at my files. It means mid April here, but surely something to already start looking forward to!

I do like your trilliums. Our native ones here have the flower underneath... not quite as spectacular.

Good morning! I love triliums. They are so wonderfully clean and graphic. Sounds like a weird description, doesn't it AND I was surprised to see my name here which was cool, too!

On my stroll through Toronto yesterday I saw six Robins....a sure sign that winter is ebbing...yeah, in your dreams Carolyn! I like looking ahead but I have to be careful not to miss what is in front of me.
I have spent this past week going back and visiting places where I lived and went to school...some have changed, some are unrecognizable and some have stayed the same....really quite interesting. Hope all is well.
Smiles and blessings Cedar

Yes, I can hardly wait to hike in the forests of our childhood to see the johnny jumpups, trilliums and may flowers in bloom once more.

Star flowers, skunk cabbage and fairies lace--all those lovely wildflowers...

Ah....Cedar--your photos make me feel positively nostoligic!

You torture me Cedar! Spring can't come soon enough! I need to plant some bulbs in a pot to enjoy in February. At least the days are getting longer : )

As I grow older I'm trying to tell myself to just enjoy every day that comes, it's all a blessing. Not to mention living where we do there is no choice but to accept the cold. It's a way of life for us northerners.
