June Camping,...

There are times when a "spur of the moment" idea is the right thing to do. Such was the case this past weekend. I think it was Wednesday when I said to a friend, "want to go camping this weekend?" Reservations were made at a favorite site. Our camping chairs had a nice view of the wetland right behind our site.

A frequent visitor was a great blue heron...

I think he got sick of that woman with a camera sneaking around the edge of the marsh!

The other side of the campground faces Lake Champlain. Those sites are always booked early and crowded with campers who launch boats and like to fish from their site.

The weather was overcast much of the time giving a foggy look to everything. But it didn't rain until I was home again Sunday afternoon.

Here's a view of the lake,... looking east toward the Vermont shore.

The campsite was lined with wildflowers. This is vetch.

I believe this is yarrow.

A perfect camping weekend with no others on our loop. Quiet, with just the constant croaking of frogs. What a lullaby to listen to as I fell asleep!

Isn't a trip like that great! That's a very scenic place to camp too, and wetlands plus a lake is really doing it right! Great photos!

Oh Cedar ---what a wonderful way to spend a weekend in summer... Do you have a tent or RV or pop-up camper? We used to go tent camping --but it's been many years.

Glad you had a great weekend.

Hugs,
Betsy

What wonderful pictures of what sounds like a very relaxing weekend. I loved looking at them, especially with the weather hot and humid here.

Glad you had a nice time! It's been years since I've been camping. Who knows if I'll ever go again but with I view like that I don't think I'd mind a bit.

Darned if the Herons aren't skitish! I'd love to be able to get a little closer to one but they aren't having it.

Let me know if you ever see the sun ; )

So glad the rain held off for your impromptu camping trip.

I love camping near water...so soothing to me.

I had never seen vetch before, but I wanted to tell you that you were right about the yarrow!

Wow--what fun! Those blue herons are a tad flighty, aren't they? (Grin) What a wonderful trip!

I love your vetch. Our vetch grown on long vines with delicate leaves. The flowers, which look like miniature hummingbirds, are each different and rainbow colored. They are so pretty--but they're a weed. (grin) I haven't the heart to pull them when they're in bloom, though!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Beautiful! I haven't been camping in several years. I miss it. I think my bible study group is going to go this fall. I can't wait!

Such scenic country. The only tent sleeping I have done was in the backyard when my boys were young. It's amazing the noise at night. Birds, owls, insects, I coudn't sleep!

Terrific shots of the lake! I love spur of the moment trips - they're the best. What a nice time for camping too - just warm enough in the daytime and cool at night.

How I wish I could go camping with you... it's been a few years since we have done that.
We work and work and work... it's all we do to try to get bills paid.
We fish sometimes to get away from the ratrace but to be able to camp for a few nights would be a dream!

I'm so happy you were able to get away.
Such beautiful photos.

Hugs♥

Oh, wow! I'm jealous. I haven't made it out camping in two summers! But, my tent is going to the Tetons in July. Sadly...I am not invited. :(

Looks like you had a great spot!
