The Blue and the Grey,...

What is it about the sky and clouds that fascinate us? I wonder how many photos of the sky I have,... I'm sure too many to count! However, this cloud formation was interesting,... blue sky below and heavy grey clouds above.

I took this photo several days ago and wasn't going to use it here. But for some reason I kept being drawn back to it,... so here you are!

Looking Up and Looking Down,...

Yesterday the outer bands of clouds generated by tropical storm Hanna gave us a heavy grey sky all day. Only a few sprinkles of rain fell. The Adirondacks are several hours drive inland from the Atlantic coast so we had only a dreary and cool day.

I stood outside my carport facing the west to take the photo above,.... as I turned to go back in the house I realized right at my feet there were several small Queen Anne's Lace flowers growing by the edge of the lawn.
It is good to not be too busy looking up to look down,.... or not too busy looking down to look up. Sometimes a lovely thing is right there waiting for you to notice it!

Foggy, foggy dew,....

Yesterday morning as I was driving to work, the morning fog was not yet cleared. In the farm field just below my house turkeys were feeding. Of course as I stopped my car to get a photo they scurried away.

A mile farther down the road, the sun was just starting to burn through the fog....

What a peaceful way to start a busy day!

Do Elves Live Here?...

When I was a child I always believed that tiny elves lived under the toadstools and mushrooms that grew in the woods. At the end of my driveway is a elderly tree, nearing it's life's end. At its base is a whole city of "elf houses!"

I was surprised at the blueish tint in the photo. However, I did not alter it nor did I use any filter on the camera. It is green leaves, grey bark and soil,... all in the deep shade of late afternoon. I thought it turned out interesting!

Why Did theTurtle Cross the Road?...

...To get to the river on the other side!

Yesterday afternoon I picked my granddaughter up at her soccer practice, and as we were almost to her home we saw this big guy just starting to cross the road from a wetland area toward the river side of the highway.

In the picture above he looks like he's smiling,... be we all know that jovial isn't an attitude that snapping turtles exhibit! In the picture below you can see his mouth is open. He... or she,... isn't happy with us taking pictures. The shell on this turtle easily measured 12 inches front to back.

A happy note to end on,... the turtle made it across the road to the river.

I'm home again after a great four days camping again at Macomb Reservation, a NY state campground. I chose the same site as earlier this summer for this great view,...The pond below was a resting place for a flock of Canada geese,...

This Great Blue Heron was hunting for breakfast,...

Here is Mother Nature's pinwheel!
And of course,... another great campfire and toasted marshmellows!

This campground closes on Labor Day so it will be next May before I can return to one of my favorite "views."
