Catching Up,...

Today I met a former co-worker for lunch. It was time to renew old friendship and catch up on children, grandchildren and life in general. Halfway between our homes is Baxter Mountain Tavern. It was an overcast day with a steady wind. The flags on the restaurant sign were whipping back and forth. It felt like snow would start falling any minute!

A welcome sight was the cheery fireplace!
Over the fireplace is a wonderful photo of the Adirondacks by noted photographer, Carl Heilman.

Moving on past the fireplace, sofa, and through the inner dining room,...
We arrived in the second diningroom with windows giving every diner a mountain view...
Looking out from our table...

The walls are decorated with interesting Adirondack items. What could be better than a wonderful view of the mountains, a fireplace, great food and service while lunching with a friend? Thanks for a such a nice visit, Deb!

Hi Cedar!

Between the REAL fireplace, antlers and Deer head on the wall I felt right at home, even though I'm not a big fan of the Deer head.

I see you still have some snow up thayah! What a wonderful place to catch up with a friend. Hope the food was as good as the view : )

That looks like a wonderful place to sit and catch up with a friend....or to just stop and enjoy a meal. I've never been there but next time I am down in that direction I will try it out. Love the decor!

I hope the recent storm wasn't too unkind to you!

I love the tavern, especially the wood-burning (not gas log) fire. What a charming place to spend a raw day. And the company of a good friend only makes it better.

Yes the food was fantastic, and service was excellent. So far the wicked storm on the northeast coast hasn't hit here in the Lake Champlain Valley. I understand that to the west in the mountains they are getting snow. Ech!

It's always fun to catch up with friends, isn't it? It looks like you picked a wonderful, cozy place, which is perfect on a cold, gray winter day.

Wow---looks like my kind of place... We eat at a similar place when we visit Mt. Magazine in Arkansas. They have a big lodge restaurant --and we always sit at a table with a great view.

Thanks for sharing....I know the fellowship and the atmosphere was good, but what about the food???? What did you have????? I'm sure it was delicious...

Happy St. Patty's Day.
Hugs,
Betsy

Betsy asked what I had to eat,.... A small house salad with ranch dressing, a "Baxter Burger" with cheese, for drink I had Sprite. Dessert was peanut butter pie,...and coffee. Everything was A-1 for taste, presentation and service! :)

Cool, I now know how to comment. I needed to sign in first, who knew? Anyway, your lunch sounded fantastic, thanks for posting. Also, where is this Bluegrass festival you and your grandson are going to in June? Hmmmm....

You know, lunch in a cozy restaurant with a good friend - does it get much better than that?? One of life's really good moments. :-) I hope I get to eat there someday!

What a wonderful spot! I can't believe how different your weather is from ours. Here it is unseasonably warm and sunny and no snow :( I so enjoyed seeing the fireplace still lit and some semblance of winter surrounding you. Made it very cozy.

Oooooh I could hear and feel the fire crackling and smell the food. We ate at a small mountain lodge in the snow a few months ago that was very much like this. Wouldn't we have fun hangin' out together?! :)
