Many years ago, probably around 1950, my mother bought this lamp at a rummage sale. The white shade had a crack but she fell in love with it. She brought it to our family camp and it's been over the kitchen table every since. Many a card game, crossword puzzle, breakfast and supper have been enjoyed by its kerosene light. Its finish is worn, the crack in the shade is longer, and shows to the left of the flame, but in our eyes and hearts it is perfect.
While at our camp yesterday for a family picnic I noticed this at the edge of the water. By comparing the leaves I believe it to be a Royal Fern.
Looking north from our front yard,...
And west across the water,...
Unfortunately it was overcast most of the day with rain about every half hour! But when a person is with family it really doesn't matter. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend!

Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE the lamp...especially the ornate brasswork at the bottom.
And that lake is gorgeous...loved the mountains at the end of the lake!
You are blessed!

glad you're enjoying your time with family.
That lamp is unique and beautiful!! Perfect for a camp! Just love your views over there - glad you had a nice weekend!
YOur lamp is really neat. I bet it could tell alot of good family stories. ;) It sure looks nice and relaxing at your camp.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that weather being a nearly bone dry California girl (okay, old broad) and the lamp is GREAT! It has a great deal of personality and that's the best!
Sounds like a lovely weekend, gray days and all. Your photos show the beauty. I love that so many memories are held under that lamp, as though the lamp is so much more... than a light.
That lamp is indeed a treasure! All those memories, and a perfect place for it!
Cedar, I love your kerosene lamp and what a wonderful family treasure! Just perfect! The view from your home is always amazing no matter what the weather. Jean
What a great area to gather with family. I love the lamp.
There is absolutely nothing better than the cottage/camp with family. We don't have that beautiful kersone lamp...good old Coleman lamp but I sure can relate to the games and meals around the old antique table with family and friends on rainy days. Lovely post Cedar, thanks for sharing.

A family camp... now there is a wonderful throwback to the days when families were families. Nice images and thanks for the memories, Cedar.
Camp is just gorgeous - and that lamp is surely a treasure. I just heard a story last night about a neighbor losing a family treasure ... so this is nice to read this morning! Hadn't heard of Royal Fern, but they're gorgeous. Hosta & Ferns are my favorite.
